Sophia Momodu, mother of Davido’s first child, Imade, has addressed online criticism following her absence—and that of her daughter—from the singer’s 33rd birthday celebration in Atlanta.
In a statement shared on Snapchat, Sophia debunked claims that she stopped Imade from attending the event, describing the allegations as long-running false narratives targeted at her. She stressed that her priority has always been her daughter’s privacy and well-being.
“You people have been doing this false narrative thing for over 10 years now,” she wrote. “While I try to be as graceful as I can, I’m also a very protective mother. Say whatever you want about me, it’s ok. But leave my child alone. This is non-negotiable. Imade is not a bargaining chip for her mother to conform.”
Sophia condemned the circulation of unverified stories about her daughter and warned that she is prepared to pursue legal action against anyone spreading fake news.
Her response follows social media reactions to Imade’s absence at Davido’s birthday gathering, which was attended by family and friends, including his other daughter, Hailey.
