Luciano Spalletti has been appointed as Juventus manager until the end of the season following the dismissal of Igor Tudor.

The 66-year-old returns to club management less than five months after being sacked by Italy, taking charge of a Juventus side that has endured a turbulent campaign.

Tudor’s seven-month stint came to an end after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Lazio, which extended the club’s winless run to eight matches.

Spalletti, who guided Napoli to the Serie A title in 2022–23 before taking the national team job, faces the task of reviving a Juventus squad languishing in seventh place, six points behind leaders Napoli after nine games.

The former Roma and Inter boss helped Italy qualify for Euro 2024 but was dismissed in June after a World Cup qualifying loss to Norway, which left the Azzurri in danger of missing another tournament.

Massimo Brambilla, who oversaw Wednesday’s 3–1 victory over Udinese as interim coach, steadied the team briefly, but Juventus have turned to Spalletti’s experience to bring consistency back to their campaign.

The Bianconeri also have work to do in Europe, sitting 25th in the Champions League league phase after one loss and two draws from their opening three fixtures.

Spalletti, who has also managed Zenit St Petersburg, Udinese, and Empoli, is expected to begin his tenure this weekend, with immediate focus on narrowing the domestic gap and reviving continental form.
