Tottenham have named Thomas Frank as their new head coach on a contract running until 2028, following the surprise dismissal of Ange Postecoglou.
The Dane joins from Brentford after a successful seven-year spell, during which he led the club into the Premier League and helped establish them in the top flight despite limited resources. He leaves the Bees to become Spurs’ fifth permanent manager in six years.
Frank arrives with his trusted backroom staff, including Justin Cochrane, Chris Haslam, and Joe Newton from Brentford, while Andreas Georgson joins from Manchester United as assistant coach.
Despite winning the Europa League, Postecoglou was dismissed after overseeing Tottenham’s worst-ever Premier League campaign.
They finished 17th with 22 losses and just 38 points. However, European silverware secured Champions League football, meaning Frank will make his European managerial debut next season.
Spurs described Frank as “one of the most progressive and innovative head coaches within the game” and revealed he was their sole choice to replace Postecoglou.
The 51-year-old’s first competitive match in charge will be a high-profile UEFA Super Cup clash against Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain on August 13 in Udine, Italy, offering a shot at his first major trophy on debut.
