Stuttgart claimed their first DFB-Pokal title in 27 years and secured a Europa League place with a 4-2 win over third-tier surprise package Arminia Bielefeld in Berlin.
Bielefeld, who had stunned four Bundesliga sides en route to the final, saw a third of their hometown descend on the Olympiastadion hoping for a historic upset. But after a missed early chance by Noah Sarenren Bazee, Stuttgart quickly took control.
Nick Woltemade opened the scoring inside 15 minutes, before Enzo Millot and Deniz Undav added two more in a ruthless first-half blitz. Millot struck again after the break to make it 4-0, seemingly ending Bielefeld’s fairytale.
Late goals from Julian Kania and a Josha Vagnoman own goal gave the underdogs fleeting hope, but Stuttgart held firm to end their 18-year wait for silverware.
Despite falling short, Bielefeld exit the tournament as record-makers, having become the first third-division side to score in a DFB-Pokal final.
