Super Eagles Goalkeeper Obasogie Suspended by Singida Over Match-Fixing Allegation.
Nigerian goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been suspended for three months by
Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars SC pending an investigation into an alleged match-
fixing.
The club confirmed in a statement issued on February 27, 2026, that the suspension
is a precautionary step to allow its Disciplinary Committee review the matter. No
formal charges or evidence have yet been made public.
Obasogie came under scrutiny after Singida conceded a late equaliser in a
Tanzanian Premier League clash against Namungo FC, when he spilled a stoppage-
time free kick that led to the goal.
Midfielder Khalid Aucho was also handed a three-month suspension for alleged
indiscipline and absenteeism.
The 25-year-old, who was part of the Nigeria national football team squad that finished
third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, now awaits the outcome of the investigation.
