Nigeria’s interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has invited 30 players to camp the home based Super Eagle team as preparations intensify for the 2024 CHAN qualifiers against Ghana.
The first leg is set for Sunday, December 22, in Accra, with the return leg on Saturday, December 28, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
This marks the third phase of camping for the home-based Super Eagles following earlier sessions organized by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in November.
Notable invitees include Kano Pillars captain Rabiu Ali, Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, Rivers United defender Steven Mayo, Abia Warriors forward Sunday Megwo, and Nigeria Premier League top scorer Anas Yusuf.
Players are expected to report to camp at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Wednesday, December 4, to finalize preparations for the doubleheader.
The CHAN tournament, reserved for players competing in their domestic leagues, will take place in February 2025, co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Nigeria will aim to break Ghana’s dominance, having been denied CHAN finals appearances in 2009 and 2023 by their West African rivals.
