Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and head coach Justine Madugu have been shortlisted for top honours at this year’s Ballon d’Or awards.
Nnadozie is in the running for the Women’s Yachine Trophy, recognising the world’s best female goalkeeper, while Madugu is a contender for the Women’s Johan Cruyff Trophy, awarded to the best women’s coach.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper will compete against Ann-Katrin Berger, Cata Coll, Hannah Hampton and Daphne van Domselaar.
Her stellar year included four clean sheets in Nigeria’s unbeaten WAFCON triumph, where she claimed the Best Goalkeeper award, and heroics in Paris FC’s Coupe de France victory before sealing a move to Brighton.
Madugu, meanwhile, faces Sarina Wiegman, Renee Slegers, Sonia Bompastor and Arthur Elias.
He guided the Super Falcons to their record-extending 10th WAFCON crown in Morocco without a single defeat, earning the Best Coach of the Tournament honour.
The awards ceremony takes place on September 22 at the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris.
