Nigeria’s Super Falcons have retained their 36th place in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings released on Thursday, cementing their status as Africa’s highest-ranked side following a flawless run to a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco.
The champions gained 7.54 points to reach 1,630.83 after an unbeaten WAFCON campaign under coach Justine Madugu.
They overcame Tunisia, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, and Morocco, with the only blemishes on their recent record being draws against Portugal in a friendly and Algeria in qualifying.
Their 3-2 comeback win over hosts Morocco in the final was the highlight of the tournament.
Elsewhere in Africa, South Africa stayed 54th but lost 22.92 points, Morocco slipped to 64th, and Zambia remained 65th with a slight gain.
Ghana, Cameroon, and Ivory Coast recorded small drops, while Botswana surged seven places to 146th to become the continent’s biggest mover.
Globally, Spain returned to the summit after reaching the UEFA Women’s Euro final, knocking the USA into second place.
France climbed to sixth, Brazil dropped to seventh, and Bangladesh enjoyed a historic leap of 24 places after gaining 80.51 points. The Solomon Islands also made headlines, rising to 73rd.
The next FIFA Women’s World Rankings will be published on December 11, 2025.
