Nigeria’s Super Falcons have retained 36th place in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking released Thursday morning.

The ranking, published on FIFA’s official website, also confirms that Nigeria remain Africa’s top-ranked women’s national team.

The United States still lead the global standings, but Spain and Germany — who have both gone unbeaten since the last update, have closed the gap.

A 2-1 loss to Brazil in April has put pressure on the Americans, who are now coached by Emma Hayes.

Brazil jumped four places to fourth, with England rounding out the top five. Sweden, Japan and Canada follow, though recent defeats to South American sides have affected their positions.

The next FIFA ranking will be released on August 7, 2025.

Last week, Nigeria beat Cameroon 2-0 in a friendly in Abeokuta with Rasheedat Ajibade scoring twice in the first half.

The Falcons will next face Portugal on June 23 as part of their preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where they share a group with Tunisia, Algeria and Botswana.
