The Super Falcons will face Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses in a two-legged international friendly later this month, following a new partnership between the Nigeria Football Federation and the Ogun State government aimed at boosting local sports development.

The first match will be held at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on May 31, with the return leg scheduled for June 3 at the renovated MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.

NFF President Ibrahim Gusau announced the fixtures during a visit to Governor Dapo Abiodun in Abeokuta, stressing the need to decentralise elite football and align with federal efforts to grow a sustainable sports economy.

He said Ogun was chosen due to its modern infrastructure and proven capacity to host major events.

The initiative also sets the stage for Ogun to host the WAFU B U-17 Championship in September, which will feature West African nations including Ghana, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.

Governor Abiodun welcomed the developments, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to positioning the state as a sports hub through infrastructure and youth-focused investment.
