Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, who was previously the pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s City of David Parish, has initiated a new ministry in Lagos called The Family Fellowship. A video that circulated widely on Monday morning captured Iluyomade celebrating with attendees during the ministry’s first service, which took place at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The inaugural service, held on Sunday morning, was filled with lively dancing and an atmosphere of joy. In a post on Instagram, Iluyomade extended an invitation to the public, encouraging them to join the fellowship. He stated, “The Family Fellowship warmly invites you. Join us tomorrow at the Civic Centre for a special encounter in the Lord’s presence. It promises to be a wonderful experience.”

Previously serving as the senior pastor at City of David Parish, Iluyomade faced suspension from the RCCG in 2024 after his wife, Pastor Siju, organized an extravagant 60th birthday celebration shortly after the tragic passing of Herbert Wigwe, a notable church member and former CEO of Access Bank, along with his family in a helicopter crash. The timing of the celebration, occurring just weeks after Wigwe’s death, was met with significant criticism, as many deemed it inappropriate.

Wigwe had been a vital supporter of the church prior to his tragic demise. In response to the outcry, the Governing Council of the RCCG formed a panel to examine the situation. In June 2024, both Iluyomade and his wife received a three-month suspension and were redirected to worship at the church’s headquarters in Ebute Metta. Their suspension garnered additional attention when they were uninvited from Wigwe’s funeral.

Now, the Iluyomades have embarked on their own ministry journey, aiming to continue their spiritual endeavors.
