The recently suspended Senator representing Kogi Central – Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has complained that her suspension by the Senate’s Committee on Ethics and Privileges is unfair.
It was reported that the embattled Senator has been suspended by the senate for “gross misconduct” as a result of an intense argument with Senate President Godswill Akpabio concerning seating arrangement on February 20, 2025. She later accused Akpabio of sexually harassing her – an allegation he denied. Nevertheless, the senate’s committee on ethics, privileges and public petitions dismissed Natasha’s petition on procedural grounds.
However, the Senator said in one of her social media posts – after the incidences that her colleague’s actions would not decline her legality as a senator.
“Against the culture of silence, intimidation and victim-shaming; my unjust suspension from the Nigerian senate invalidates the principles of natural justice, fairness and equity.”
“The illegal suspension does not withdraw my legitimacy as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I will continue to use my duly elected position to serve my constituents and country to the best of my ability till 2027… and beyond.”
