Top seed Iga Swiatek stormed into the Australian Open quarterfinals with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 victory over Germany’s Eva Lys on Monday.
The Polish star needed just 59 minutes on Rod Laver Arena to secure her spot in the final eight for the second time in her career.
Swiatek, a five-time Grand Slam champion, has dropped only 11 games in the tournament so far, further cementing her status as a strong title contender.
Up next, she will face American Emma Navarro, who battled past Daria Kasatkina in a hard-fought 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 win to book her place in the quarterfinals.
Elsewhere, Coco Gauff will take on Paula Badosa, defending champion Aryna Sabalenka meets Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, and Madison Keys will square off against Elina Svitolina for a semifinal spot.
