Seventeen-year-old Mirra Andreeva pulled off a stunning upset at the Dubai Tennis Championships, defeating world number two Iga Swiatek 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. The Russian teenager is now the youngest player to reach the tournament’s last four.

After trailing 3-1 in the second set, Andreeva staged an impressive comeback, winning five straight games to secure victory in just one hour and 36 minutes. She will face either Elena Rybakina or Sofia Kenin in the semifinals.

Reflecting on her win, Andreeva admitted to feeling nervous but stayed focused. “I just told myself to keep playing aggressively and go for my shots,” she said. “It wasn’t easy with the crowd supporting Iga, but I had a lot of people backing me too.”

This victory marks another milestone for Andreeva, who has now beaten both of the world’s top two players in the past year, including world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the French Open. She also becomes the youngest player since 2007 to record five wins against top-10 opponents.
