Security is tight at the National Assembly as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan arrived this morning to resume duties, defying her six-month suspension.
Her move follows a recent court ruling by Justice Binta Nyako, which described the suspension as “excessive” and advised her reinstatement. Natasha had formally written to the Senate, notifying them of her planned resumption today.
However, Senate leadership insists she hasn’t met the conditions of her suspension—including a ₦5 million fine and a formal apology—and maintains the suspension stands.
Multiple security agencies, including DSS and police, are stationed across the complex, preventing any forced entry. Tension remains high, with the situation being closely monitored.
