Three officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have been hospitalised after sustaining gunshot wounds during a raid in the Jahi area of Abuja. The event occurred Thursday night as operatives.. acting on intelligence raided an uncompleted building in the NNPC zone of Jahi and recovered 74 bottles of codeine, 10 litres of codeine syrup, 48 grammes of tramadol, 4.9 kilogrammes of skunk and five android phones.
As the team exited the premises, armed men opened fire where they injured three officers—one in the rib and two others in the back and leg. The wounded personnel were first stabilised at the Police Clinic in Garki before being transferred to the National Hospital, Abuja.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd) lauded the swift medical response and personally reached out to the injured officers to offer encouragement. He pledged that the agency, in collaboration with other security bodies would ensure those behind the attack are brought to justice.
