Timberwolves Tame Thunder, Warriors Hold Off Rockets as All-Star Break Beckons

The Minnesota Timberwolves stunned the Oklahoma City Thunder, snapping their seven-game winning streak with a commanding 116-101 victory on Thursday night.

Despite missing Rudy Gobert, Timberwolves stepped up, with Naz Reid leading the charge with 27 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists.

Anthony Edwards added 23 points, while Jaden McDaniels contributed 21 as the Timberwolves dominated from the start.

Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who finished with 24 points and nine assists, saw his 25-point game streak end at 22.

The Thunder now enter the All-Star break tied with Cleveland for the best record in the league at 44-10.

Meanwhile, Stephen Curry powered the Golden State Warriors to a 105-98 win over the Houston Rockets. Curry, set to make his 10th All-Star start, scored 27 points, including five three-pointers, while new addition Jimmy Butler chipped in 19 points.

The Rockets, led by Aaron Holiday’s 25 points, fought back from a 24-point deficit but ultimately fell short.

Elsewhere, the Dallas Mavericks secured a 118-113 victory over the Miami Heat, despite injuries to Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson. Dante Exum stepped up with 27 points, while Miami’s Tyler Herro’s 40-point effort wasn’t enough to prevent a defeat.

The New Orleans Pelicans ended their 10-game losing streak with a thrilling 140-133 overtime win against the Sacramento Kings.

CJ McCollum erupted for 43 points, including 11 in overtime, while Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis recorded an impressive 22 points and 28 rebounds.

In Utah, the Los Angeles Clippers staged a remarkable comeback, overturning a 20-point deficit to beat the Jazz 120-116 in overtime.

Norman Powell led the way with 41 points, scoring nine in the extra period, while James Harden added 32 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.

As the All-Star break arrives, teams will look to regroup and recharge for the second half of the season.
