Tinubu Appoints Aminu as NABTEB Registrar, Olorunnimbe as UBEC Chairman

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved key appointments in the education sector where he named Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Aminu as the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB). In addition, he appointed Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Board. The announcement was made on Tuesday March 11, 2025 in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

The president also approved the appointments of Rasaq Olajuwon as UBEC’s Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical) and Tunde Ajibulu as Deputy Executive Secretary (Services). Dr. Aminu, who holds a PhD in Automobile Technology and a master’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management was previously the Director of Procurement at the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI). His appointment is expected to drive reforms at NABTEB and also ensure that the institution continues to evaluate and certify skilled professionals significant to Nigeria’s industrial development.

Olorunnimbe, in his new role brings extensive experience in leadership, youth empowerment and education. As the Group CEO of The Temple Company – a firm he founded in 2016, he has led transformative initiatives in education, entertainment and sports. His previous service on the board of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), where he presided over the Stakeholder and Governance Committees saw him spearheading impactful youth employment and entrepreneurship programs.

President Tinubu admonished the new appointees to bring innovation and efficiency to their respective roles.. reinforcing the administration’s commitment to enhancing technical education and basic education standards across the country. The appointments are seen as part of broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s education system and equip young Nigerians with the skills needed for national development.
