The Senator representing Osun East, Francis Fadahunsi, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for preventing Nigeria’s economy from sinking into total collapse, noting that the current administration inherited a near-broken system.

Speaking with journalists on Tuesday at his country home in Ilase-Ijesa, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Fadahunsi—who recently resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on July 19—said the president deserves credit for stabilising a fragile economy.

According to him, Tinubu assumed office at a time when the nation’s finances were on the brink of ruin, and without his policy interventions, Nigeria would have been “completely grounded.”

“The president should not be blamed for the current hardship because it was planted long before he took office,” Fadahunsi said. “With the various economic measures already in place, Nigerians will begin to feel relief before the end of the year.”

He further urged citizens to support government efforts by engaging in agriculture, stressing that increased food production would help reduce prices and ease the burden on households.

“The Federal Government cannot do it alone; we must all contribute in our own little ways,” he added.

Fadahunsi also commended Tinubu for prioritising the rehabilitation of dilapidated federal roads in Osun State, saying such infrastructure projects would boost local livelihoods and stimulate economic activities across the region.
