Tinubu Returns After Two-Week Official Visits To Japan, Brazil

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is back in Abuja following a two-week working trip to Japan and Brazil. 

His aircraft landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 1:20 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

On arrival, the President was received by top government officials, including the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; alongside other ministers and senior aides.

Tinubu had departed Abuja on Friday, August 15, with a brief stopover in Dubai before heading to Japan. In Yokohama, he attended the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) from August 20 to 22, where he also held bilateral talks and met with executives of Japanese firms investing in Nigeria, according to presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.

The President later proceeded to Brasília on a state visit at the invitation of his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
