Tottenham Begin “New Era” as Levy Steps Aside

Tottenham Hotspur have entered a new era after Daniel Levy was removed as chairman, ending his 24-year spell at the helm.

While the club statement said Levy had “stepped down,” the move was driven by majority shareholders, the Lewis family, who have appointed Peter Charrington as non-executive chairman.

The decision completes a dramatic summer of change at Spurs, with Vinai Venkatesham installed as CEO, Thomas Frank replacing Ange Postecoglou as manager, and long-serving executive Donna-Maria Cullen departing.

A review commissioned by the Lewis family earlier this year set the stage for the shake-up, with sources close to ownership insisting the changes are designed to deliver more consistent on-pitch success.

Levy, who oversaw the club’s rise to global prominence and delivered the state-of-the-art Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, leaves behind a complicated legacy.

His tenure saw moments of great progress, including a Champions League final appearance in 2019, but also growing frustration from fans over limited spending and frequent managerial turnover.

In his farewell, Levy said he was “incredibly proud” of building Spurs into “a global heavyweight” and thanked supporters for their loyalty through difficult times.

Charrington, in contrast, promised stability and results, calling this “a new era of leadership on and off the pitch” as Tottenham look to reset their ambitions.
