A senior police officer in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State experienced a devastating tragedy when his 26-year-old son allegedly beheaded his 15-year-old brother, Emmanuel, in connection with ritual practices. The incident has sent shockwaves through the agricultural community, as residents grapple with the loss of the two young boys.

Local resident Roland Akinkunmi shared with reporters that the shocking event took place on a Monday evening. He expressed his disbelief over the motives behind such a horrific act. It is reported that the elder brother lured Emmanuel to a secluded area by the banks of the Origbara River.

Akinkunmi recounted witnessing a local who was attempting to cross the river raise the alarm upon spotting Daniel trying to conceal the severed head in a black bag. He remarked, “I was near the palace when I heard shouts coming from the Origbara area. When I approached to investigate, I saw Daniel holding a human head. I was bewildered and did not realize it was his brother’s.”

He also noted, “Daniel and Emmanuel share the same parents, and their father is a well-respected police officer in our community. We are all in disbelief. How could someone commit such an atrocity against his own sibling? They are not originally from this area, and the community is still in shock at what would drive him to kill and behead his younger brother.”

Some nearby residents mentioned that the siblings had previously engaged in typical quarrels. However, there is a strong belief that there may be more to the situation. Akinkunmi added, “In our town, anyone who spills human blood for money rituals or any other reason will be quickly exposed.”
