In a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism, troops of the 1 Brigade under Operation Hadarin Daji’s “Fansan Yanma” have arrested Shamsiyya Ahadu, a suspected logistics supplier for terrorist activities in the region. The operation also led to the neutralization of a notorious terrorist leader, Ma’oli, and several of his fighters.
The arrest followed actionable intelligence on Ahadu’s movements. Troops swiftly established a snap checkpoint along the Kware-Badarawa road in Shinkafi Local Government Area (LGA), intercepting the 25-year-old suspect. During the operation, authorities discovered 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, six magazines, and a talisman, locally referred to as “laya,” in his possession.
Accompanying Ahadu at the time of his arrest was Ahmed Husaini, a motorcycle rider, who was also detained for further investigation.
Meanwhile, in a related operation on December 26, troops successfully neutralized Ma’oli, a notorious terrorist kingpin, along with several of his followers. The offensive took place in Maisheka village, near Kunchin Kalgo town in Tsafe LGA. This strike dealt a significant blow to terrorist activities in Zamfara State, which has been a hotspot for banditry and insurgent operations in recent years.
Speaking on the development, Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency publication specializing in the Lake Chad region, confirmed the operations, applauding the military’s proactive measures in curbing the activities of criminal elements in the state.
Residents in the affected areas have expressed relief at the latest achievements by security forces. A local leader in Tsafe LGA, who chose to remain anonymous for security reasons, described the operations as a welcome development, urging sustained efforts to rid the region of terrorists.
The arrest of logistics suppliers and the elimination of high-profile terror leaders represent a strategic move by security forces to disrupt the operational capabilities of armed groups in Zamfara State. The military continues to urge citizens to report suspicious activities to authorities as part of collaborative efforts to restore peace and stability to the region.
As the security forces intensify their crackdown on criminal activities, authorities reaffirm their commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across Zamfara and the entire Northwest.
