Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have been nominated head of a new “Department of Government Efficiency” by Donald Trump, the latest appointment to his emerging new team. Vivek Ramaswamy is a former presidential candidate and ally of Trump,
In his words, Mr Trump said “Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies,”
He further said that “the Department of Government Efficiency will not be a federal agency in the U.S. government but will provide advice and guidance “outside of government” and partner with the White House and Office of Management & Budget to “drive structural government reform,”
Other major appointments by Mr Trump include
- South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem chosen as Homeland Security Secretary
- Pete Hegseth, an Army veteran and Fox News host to take charge of Defence Secretary
- Popular property developer and long-time golf partner Steve Witkoff has been named as special envoy to the Middle East
- while former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee will be nominated as ambassador to Israel
