Yuki Tsunoda is reportedly set to replace Liam Lawson at Red Bull for the Japanese Grand Prix, following the team’s decision to drop the struggling New Zealander after just two races.

According to Dutch newspaper reports Tsunoda will partner Max Verstappen at Suzuka on April 4-6, earning a promotion from Red Bull’s sister team, RB.

Lawson, 23, has had a tough start to the 2025 season, failing to progress beyond Q1 in all three qualifying sessions and yet to score a point.

Meanwhile, Tsunoda has shown solid pace, finishing 12th in Australia and missing out on points in Shanghai due to a poor pit strategy.

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner hinted at the move after the Chinese Grand Prix, praising Tsunoda while acknowledging Lawson’s struggles.

However, Red Bull has yet to make an official statement on the reports.
