Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tuoyo has sparked controversy after openly criticizing Rita Daniels, mother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, for allowing her daughter to marry at a young age.
In a post shared via his Instagram story, Tuoyo expressed deep concern about what he described as the decline of proper parenting in modern times. Using Regina Daniels’ teenage marriage to politician and businessman Senator Ned Nwoko as an example, he labeled it a failure in parental responsibility.
Tuoyo lamented that parents in previous generations were more attentive and involved in their children’s lives. He questioned how some parents today could be unaware of their children’s activities or whereabouts for weeks.
“Nowadays, parents mess us up a lot. How will your child travel to another country for like three weeks and you don’t know at all? What is your job? Back in the days, our parents knew where we were and when we were coming back home. Imagine Regina’s mum letting her go with a man at 17 or 18 — a child who doesn’t know anything. Parents need to do better,” he wrote.
Tuoyo’s remarks come amid renewed public discussions surrounding Regina Daniels’ marriage, which has faced allegations of domestic abuse and reignited debates about parenting, child protection, and societal pressures influencing young women’s choices.
