U.S. Commences Bombing in Nigeria on Christmas Day

On December 25, 2025, President Donald Trump announced via his Truth Social account that U.S. forces had conducted airstrikes against Islamic State (ISIS) militants in northwest Nigeria. This operation, carried out at the request of the Nigerian government, aimed to dismantle terrorist dens believed to be responsible for the killings of innocent Christians in the region.

Trump emphasized that the U.S. would not hesitate to take further action if the violence against Christians continues, highlighting a commitment to combat terrorism globally and protect religious freedoms. The airstrikes are seen as a direct response to escalating attacks that have plagued the region, raising concerns over the safety of vulnerable communities.

The Beacon Nigeria  Newspaper reports that the US had launched a major attack on suspected terrorists in the North-West part of Nigeria, as announced by the American president, Donald Trump. The Director, Nigeria Defence Information, Samaila Uba, explained that the strike followed credible intelligence and careful operational planning, collaboration and intelligence information sharing between Nigeria and the United State of America
