Uche Ogbodo Advises Mothers to Protect Their Identity and Mental Health Amid Parenting Pressures
Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has called on mothers to prioritise their personal well-being, warning against losing their sense of identity while caring for their families.
In a heartfelt post shared on her Instagram page, the actress highlighted the emotional and physical demands of motherhood, noting that constant sacrifice can gradually lead to fatigue, body shaming, and strained relationships.
Ogbodo said many women pour so much into their children and partners that they are left emotionally drained, often battling declining confidence and mental stress without realising it.
Reflecting on the realities of motherhood, she explained that body changes, exhaustion, and silent stress can sometimes trigger feelings of inadequacy and even depression, which may eventually affect communication, intimacy, and overall family dynamics.
She stressed that motherhood should not come at the expense of a woman’s identity, mental health, or self-worth, urging mothers to remain intentional about self-care and personal growth.
According to her, women must remember that they are still deserving of care, healing, and softness despite the responsibilities of raising a family.
Encouraging mothers to invest in themselves, Ogbodo noted that when a woman is emotionally whole and confident, she shines not only for her family but also for herself.
