The United Nations Foundation, The Elders, and the African Union Youth Envoy have launched a new podcast series, The Future of Africa, aimed at amplifying young leaders’ voices in addressing global and regional challenges.
In a statement, the organisers said the limited-episode series, which premiered on August 12, will spotlight issues such as climate justice, development finance, trust in democratic institutions, and the future of education.
The podcast is co-hosted by Kenyan media personality Adelle Onyango and Mark Leon Goldberg of the Global Dispatches podcast. Its first episode examined Africa’s evolving role in global affairs and the continent’s growing influence, driven by emerging voices and visionary leaders.
The organisers noted that Africa’s youth continue to face challenges including high inflation, unemployment—particularly among graduates—weak job creation, and limited entrepreneurial opportunities. The series, they added, provides a platform for conversations around solutions.
Upcoming episodes will feature interviews with stakeholders such as Chimdi Neliaku, Special Assistant to the Speaker on Interparliamentary Affairs and Public Relations in Nigeria’s House of Representatives; Samson Itodo, Executive Director of Yiaga Africa and Convener of the Not Too Young To Run Movement; and Chukwuemeka Eze, Director of Democratic Resilience at Open Society Foundations.
