Unilever Nigeria Renovates Ogun Primary School with Solar-Powered Classrooms, Modern Toilets
Unilever Nigeria Plc has upgraded facilities at Local Government Primary School, Elero-Igbesa, in Ogun State, delivering a major boost to learning conditions through classroom renovations, modern sanitation, and solar energy installations.
The project, executed in partnership with GEP and handed over on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, included refurbished and ventilated classrooms, upgraded toilets, and sustainable solar panels. The company said the intervention was aimed at creating brighter, safer spaces where pupils can learn and thrive.
At the handover ceremony, Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, commended the initiative, noting that it aligns with the state’s school infrastructure renewal agenda. He urged other corporate organisations to emulate the gesture.
Unilever Nigeria’s Managing Director, Tobi Adeniyi, stressed that the project supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 and the Ogun State Education Revitalisation Agenda. “Every child has earned the right to quality education. Beyond the four walls of the classrooms, we must ensure that our children are equipped with an enabling environment that helps them to concentrate, learn, and dream,” he said.
Community leaders, including the Oloja-Ekun of Igbesaland, Oba Abdul-Azeez Akinde, praised the intervention for strengthening hope and unity within the community. School authorities also expressed optimism that the improved facilities would enhance pupils’ performance and boost parents’ confidence in public education.
The initiative reflects Unilever’s sustainability agenda, reinforcing its commitment to improving lives and empowering future generations through education-focused interventions.
