Real Madrid secured a 2-1 win over Atlético Madrid in the Supercopa de España semi-finals to set up a repeat of last season’s El Clasico final against Barcelona.

Federico Valverde struck early, scoring from a 35-yard free-kick just two minutes into the game to give Los Blancos the lead.

Atlético responded but were repeatedly denied by Thibaut Courtois, who made key saves from Alex Baena and Alexander Sorloth, including a stunning reflex stop to tip a Sorloth header over the bar.

Rodrygo extended Real’s advantage early in the second half with a composed finish after outmaneuvering Robin Le Normand, only for Sorloth to pull one back for Atlético three minutes later.

Despite late chances, including an overhead kick from Antoine Griezmann, Atlético could not find an equaliser.

Real Madrid will now face Barcelona in Sunday’s final, hoping to avoid repeating last season’s 5-2 defeat in the same fixture.
