On September 1, 2025, Waka Community International Foundation will make history as the first Nigerian-led health and wellness organization to feature on a digital billboard in Times Square, New York City. This landmark event coincides with Waka’s fourth anniversary, celebrating a movement that has expanded to include over 58,000 members across 48 countries—all united by the belief in the power of simple lifestyle changes.

Mr. Lawrence Mba, the visionary founder of Waka Community Foundation, emphasizes a straightforward yet profound message: “Health is the ultimate wealth.” On Labour Day, the organization will communicate a vital wellness message to more than 330,000 daily visitors to Times Square, reaching an astounding audience of over 1.5 million people globally. This will appear on the billboard located at 1560 Broadway, between 46th and 47th Streets, directly above the Pelé Store—an ideal spot for maximizing visibility.

“Embracing fitness and prioritizing health is essential; it’s a way of life and a personal commitment,” Mba explains. Walking not only enhances our physical well-being but also uplifts our spirits and transforms our lives. At Waka, we believe that every small step contributes to larger global change. This moment in Times Square signifies our emergence on an international platform.

While individual Nigerian celebrities have appeared in Times Square via promotional campaigns, Waka’s independent billboard presence shifts the narrative, placing an African-led nonprofit firmly in the spotlight. This achievement is a source of pride, proving that initiatives led by Africans can and should be recognized on global platforms.

As the Times Square billboard lights up, Mr. Mba’s message will resonate far and wide: “This is not just an advertisement; it’s a testament to the capacity of African-led community initiatives to thrive on the world stage. Waka is making an impact, and now the world is paying attention.”

For those who cannot attend the celebration in Times Square, Waka encourages everyone to join in virtually. Record a shoutout video from wherever you are, and show your support by tagging @wakacommunity. Together, let’s honor four years of Waka and our collective dedication to health and lifestyle changes poised to uplift communities across the globe.
