The Waka Community International Foundation plays a crucial role in our community by enhancing health and wellness awareness. In that spirit, we invite the public to a significant event aimed at raising awareness about men’s health issues, particularly prostate and testicular cancer, as well as erectile dysfunction. This important walk, or “waka,” will commence at 7:00 AM from the Catholic Church of Divine Mercy, located on Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos.

According to Mr. Lawrence Mba, founder and President of the Waka Community International Foundation, “Together, we can take steps to break the stigma surrounding these important health issues that many men and their families face. It’s crucial that we engage in open discussions to foster understanding, prevention, and the significance of early detection. We cannot remain silent while men suffer and die from preventable conditions like prostate and testicular cancer. The Waka Community International Foundation is committed to raising awareness about men’s health, and we encourage everyone to join this initiative. Remember, it’s okay not to be okay.”

Why You Should Attend:

  1. Raise Awareness: Prostate cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers affecting men globally. Education and early detection can significantly improve treatment success rates. Testicular cancer, while less common, particularly impacts younger men. We aim to inform attendees about the risks, symptoms, and the importance of regular check-ups.
  2. Erectile Dysfunction: This condition can often indicate underlying health issues, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. By discussing erectile dysfunction openly, we can motivate men to seek help and realize they are not alone.
  3. Community Support: This event offers a unique chance for us to express solidarity with those affected by these health challenges. Together, we can create a supportive community that prioritizes health and wellness.

How to Participate:

Bring your family, friends, and colleagues as we walk together to show our support. Wear comfortable shoes and arrive ready to engage with health professionals, learn, and share your stories. Together, we can make a significant impact and save lives. Your presence is critical to the success of the Walk for Men’s Health! Let’s unite for a cause that profoundly matters to our community. Together, we can inspire change, raise awareness, and encourage the men in our lives to take control of their health. Join us on this essential journey—because everyone deserves the chance for a healthy life.

Additionally, as part of our awareness efforts, the Waka Community is hosting a Zoom meeting on the eve of the event, November 15, 2024, at 7 PM. The discussion topic will be “Why Should Prostate Health and Erectile Dysfunction Matter to You?” Dr. Joseph Okegbe, a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Calabar, will lead the session as our expert speaker. Let’s come together to walk for awareness and make strides for men’s health.
