Werder Bremen striker Victor Boniface has been called in for talks with club officials after a string of unusual social media posts drew criticism in Germany.

The 24-year-old Nigerian forward, on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, arrived in the summer as a key figure in Bremen’s attack but has already caused unrest off the pitch.

According to German outlet EXPRESS, the club hierarchy was unsettled by a series of cryptic and controversial posts, prompting a meeting behind closed doors.

Boniface, known for his outspoken online presence, recently shared an image of his damaged car mirror on Snapchat before posting a message on Instagram urging men to limit relationships with women, though controversially suggesting “up to four” could be acceptable.

The remark sparked widespread reactions, including a laughing emoji from Canadian rapper Drake, to which Boniface cheekily replied: “Bro, dm for more advice.”

His exchanges have not been limited to celebrities. When a critic accused him of unprofessionalism online, Boniface fired back by mocking her wig, a response that quickly went viral and divided opinion.

On the field, the forward has also endured a mixed start. After failing a medical at AC Milan due to persistent knee problems, he made a surprise move to Bremen and has since managed just two appearances.

He provided an assist in a 4–0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach but struggled in a 3–0 loss to Freiburg, with head coach Horst Steffen criticising his positioning.

Despite the issues, Steffen praised Boniface’s intensity in training and is expected to include him in preparations for Friday’s Bundesliga clash against Bayern Munich.

Boniface himself has expressed optimism about his Bremen chapter, explaining that he chose the number 44 shirt since his preferred 22 was already taken.

For now, Bremen’s bosses will hope to resolve the striker’s off-field distractions while allowing him to focus on delivering where it matters most — on the pitch.
