The tragic event unfolded on Monday, July 28, 2025, when the elephant, believed to have strayed from a nearby government forest reserve, invaded Kalamu’s farm and attacked him as he worked.

Residents of Itasin-Imobi have long lived in fear of the wild elephant, which has been a persistent menace in the area for over four years. This formidable creature has caused significant destruction to crops and fishing nets, but the loss of human life marks a devastating escalation in the conflict between wildlife and the community.
