Grammy-nominated Nigerian superstar Wizkid has reached a historic milestone, becoming the first African artist to surpass 10 billion streams on Spotify.
The landmark achievement underscores Wizkid’s global influence and enduring popularity across continents. Much of his streaming success is driven by chart-topping records such as One Dance, his collaboration with Canadian rapper Drake, which has amassed nearly four billion streams, and Essence featuring Tems, which has recorded over 334 million streams on the platform.
According to the latest figures as of January 2026, Wizkid currently leads the list of Africa’s most-streamed artists on Spotify. He is followed closely by Burna Boy with over 9.5 billion streams. Rema ranks third with 5.6 billion streams, while Tems has surpassed 4.4 billion. South African sensation Tyla has accumulated 3.7 billion streams, with Nigerian singer Ayra Starr close behind at 3.3 billion streams.
Wizkid’s most streamed body of work on Spotify is Made In Lagos (Deluxe), which has crossed the one-billion-stream mark, further cementing the album’s status as a global Afrobeats classic.
Beyond streaming numbers, Wizkid’s career is marked by numerous accolades and international recognition. He won a Grammy Award for his contribution to Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack and has earned multiple BET, Soul Train, and Billboard Awards over the years.
With this latest record, Wizkid continues to solidify his position as one of Africa’s most influential and successful musical exports on the global stage.
