Wolverhampton Wanderers have secured the signing of centre-back Emmanuel Agbadou from Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims for €18 million plus €2 million in add-ons.
The 27-year-old, who has 11 caps for Ivory Coast, has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the option for an additional year.
Agbadou joins as Wolves’ first signing under new head coach Vitor Pereira, bolstering the club’s defense following the departures and injuries of key players.
Agbadou captained Reims on several occasions this season, making 15 appearances. He is expected to provide much-needed depth in Wolves’ defensive options.
The club, currently 17th in the Premier League, hopes the arrival of Agbadou will strengthen their backline as they push for improved results in the second half of the season. The Ivorian could make his debut in Wolves’ FA Cup match against Bristol City on Saturday.
