Akpabio Returns From London Trip, Refutes Health Concerns

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has returned to Nigeria after a brief stay in London.

He has also firmly denied widespread rumours that he was seriously ill and receiving treatment in the UK.

Prior to his visit to London, Akpabio had participated in the sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament held in Geneva from July 29 to 31, 2025. He then traveled to the United Kingdom for what he described as a short vacation.

Upon his arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday, Akpabio was welcomed at the presidential wing by fellow senators, aides, and well-wishers from various sectors.

Addressing journalists, the Senate President dismissed reports of ill health, assuring the public of his well-being.

“There’s no truth to those claims. I’m in excellent health. I simply took a brief vacation in London,” he said.

According to Channels TV, Akpabio also gave assurance that the Senate would resume with renewed focus and more robust legislative activity once plenary sessions reconvene.
