Dozens of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The new members were formally received on Sunday by Senator Abubakar Gada, a prominent leader of the ADC coalition, who described the move as evidence of growing public disillusionment with the APC government.
Gada said communities in Sokoto East and across Nigeria were grappling with worsening insecurity and economic hardship, which have crippled farming, jobs, and food supply.
“Our people are facing serious security challenges that have devastated farming, our primary source of livelihood. This has led to poverty, unemployment, and hunger in our communities,” he said.
He added that the rising number of defections to the ADC reflected Nigerians’ desire for change and a political platform capable of addressing the country’s challenges.
“Many Nigerians are joining the ADC because they believe in our mission to rescue the nation. The APC government’s poor performance has left citizens searching for hope, and ADC is offering that alternative,” Gada said.
