ATLETICO BLAST NFF OVER LOOKMAN WORKLOAD DURING FRIENDLIES.
Atlético Madrid have criticised the Nigerian Football Federation over the heavy use
of Ademola Lookman during the recent international break.
The Spanish club expressed concern over player welfare, noting that Lookman
played the full 180 minutes across Nigeria’s friendlies against Iran and Jordan.
Atlético stressed that players are their most valuable asset and must be carefully
managed, especially in matches without major stakes, warning that there had been a
“lack of sensitivity” in how some players were used.
The club also highlighted similar workloads across its squad, with several
internationals returning with high minutes, raising fears of fatigue and injury ahead of
a crucial run of fixtures.
Lookman has been a key performer since joining Atlético, making his workload a
growing concern for the club.
