Bodo/Glimt Stun Inter to Reach Champions League Last 16.
Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt produced a famous upset by eliminating Inter
Milan from the UEFA Champions League, sealing a 2-1 win at the San Siro and a 5-
2 aggregate triumph in their play-off tie.
The result makes them the first Norwegian side to progress from a knockout round in
Europe’s elite competition since 1987.
Inter, runaway leaders in Serie A, dominated much of the first half but were
repeatedly denied by goalkeeper Nikita Haikin.
Their resistance was broken just before the hour mark when Jens Petter Hauge
reacted quickest to score after a defensive lapse.
Hakon Evjen added a second to effectively end the contest before Alessandro
Bastoni pulled one back late on.
Remarkably, Bodo had never won a Champions League match before January.
Four straight victories later, they now await the round-of-16 draw, while Inter bow out
before the last 16 for the first time since 2020/21.
