Dangote Cement Plc has commiserated with the family of Ruth Otabor, a student of Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, who died on Thursday evening from injuries she sustained in an accident involving one of the company’s trucks.
Otabor was hit on August 13, 2025, near the school premises, and had since been under medical care funded by Dangote Cement and its insurance partners.
In a statement issued in Lagos, the company said it had spared no effort in supporting her treatment, noting that arrangements had been concluded to fly her to India for advanced medical attention before her passing.
“On behalf of the entire Dangote Group, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Ruth’s family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time,” the statement read.
The company stressed that safety and accountability remain central to its operations, while pledging to continue improving its systems to prevent such tragedies in the future.
