Engr. Sadat Ihwughwavwe Awarded Honorary Degree by Commonwealth University

Engr. Sadat Itohan Ihwughwavwe has been awarded an honorary Doctor of Environmental Management and Sustainability (Honoris Causa) by the Commonwealth University.

With over twenty years of distinguished experience in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management within both onshore and deep offshore oil and gas operations, Engr. Ihwughwavwe is recognized for her expertise in environmental risk management, incident investigation, HSE risk assessment, regulatory compliance audits, chemical risk management, occupational hygiene, environmental stewardship, and hazardous waste management.

She holds a Master of Business Administration in Health and Safety Leadership from UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia, Spain, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from the University of Benin, Nigeria. Engr. Ihwughwavwe has pursued extensive professional development in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, auditing, and safety leadership.

As a Certified Safety Professional accredited by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals in the USA, she actively participates in several professional organizations, including the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals in the UK, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria. In 2025, she was honored as a Fellow of the Nigerian Environmental Society in recognition of her significant contributions to environmental stewardship.

In acknowledgment of her exemplary achievements and commitment to environmental management and sustainability, the Academic Council of the Commonwealth University has bestowed upon Engr. Ihwughwavwe the prestigious honorary degree and designation of Fellow of the Commonwealth Academy of Leadership and Management (FCALM).
