Galatasaray Survive Juventus Scare to Reach UCL Last 16.
Galatasaray SK reached the UEFA Champions League last 16 for the first time in 12
years despite a dramatic 3-2 extra-time defeat to 10-man Juventus, progressing 7-5
on aggregate in Turin.
Trailing heavily from the first leg, Juventus came out firing and pulled level on
aggregate through Manuel Locatelli’s penalty, Federico Gatti and Weston McKennie
in a pulsating contest at the Allianz Stadium.
However, Lloyd Kelly’s red card early in the second half proved costly.
Victor Osimhen struck in extra time to swing the tie back in Galatasaray’s favour
before Baris Alper Yilmaz sealed the result on the break, silencing the home crowd
and ending Juve’s hopes.
Galatasaray will now face either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur in the round of 16,
while Juventus turn their focus to Serie A after a crushing European exit.
