Olympique de Marseille have taken disciplinary action against Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe, placing both players on the transfer list after what the club described as “unacceptable behaviour” following last week’s Ligue 1 defeat to Rennes.

French media reported that tensions boiled over in the dressing room after Friday’s 1-0 loss at Roazhon Park, where Rennes held on despite being reduced to ten men for much of the contest.

In a firm statement, Marseille announced: “This decision was taken due to unacceptable behaviour in the dressing room after the match against Stade Rennais FC, in agreement with the technical staff and in accordance with the club’s internal code of conduct.”

The club added that the move was formally communicated to both players on Monday. Rabiot, a France international, and Rowe, the English winger, both arrived at the Vélodrome last year and played significant roles in helping Marseille secure a second-place finish in Ligue 1.

With the decision, Marseille have sent a clear message about discipline and internal standards, even at the expense of two players who were key figures in their campaign just months ago.
