MILAN EDGE INTER TO KEEP TITLE RACE ALIVE.
AC Milan kept the Serie A title race alive with a narrow 1-0 victory over rivals Inter
Milan in the Derby della Madonnina.
The Rossoneri completed their first league double over Inter since the 2010/11
season thanks to a decisive strike from Pervis Estupiñán late in the first half.
Inter had early chances, with Federico Dimarco and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both
threatening, but goalkeeper Mike Maignan kept Milan in the contest.
Milan found the breakthrough when Youssouf Fofana slipped a pass through to
Estupiñán, who fired emphatically into the roof of the net past Yann Sommer.
Inter pushed for an equaliser after the break, with Piotr Zieliński forcing a save from
Maignan and Dimarco missing a good opportunity, but Milan held firm to secure a
vital derby win.
The result cuts the gap at the top to seven points with 10 matches remaining, ending
Inter’s eight-game winning run in the league.
