Nigeria’s four representatives in the 2025/26 CAF interclub competitions have discovered their preliminary round fixtures following Saturday’s draws in Tanzania.

NPFL champions Remo Stars will begin their CAF Champions League quest against US Zilimadjou of Comoros.

Victory would set up a daunting second-round clash with 2016 winners Mamelodi Sundowns, one of the continent’s favourites and Africa’s representatives at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Rivers United, last season’s runners-up, face DR Congo’s league winners in their opener, with AC Léopards or Mozambique’s Black Bulls waiting in the next round.

No Nigerian side has reached the Champions League group stage since Lobi Stars in 2018/19, and Remo Stars have exited at the same stage in the past two campaigns.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Federation Cup champions Kwara United take on Ghana’s Asante Kotoko, with Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca looming in the second round.

Abia Warriors, making their continental debut, meet Djoliba AC of Mali, with the winners facing either USFAS of Mali or AS Gbohloe-su of Togo.

CAF has increased preliminary round financial support to $100,000 per club. The first legs will be played between September 19–21, with return legs a week later.

Second-round ties follow in October, leading to the group stage starting November 21.
