Emile Smith Rowe struck with his first touch off the bench to rescue Fulham a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Craven Cottage, halting a run of eight straight home league defeats to the Red Devils.

United, coming off a narrow loss to Arsenal, began brightly as Matheus Cunha twice went close, first with a powerful effort over the bar and then with a shot against the post.

Bruno Fernandes also saw an attempt denied by Bernd Leno before missing a penalty, blazing over after Mason Mount had been brought down.

The visitors eventually found a breakthrough just before the hour mark when Bryan Mbeumo’s corner was flicked onto Rodrigo Muniz by Leny Yoro, the ball deflecting in for the opener.

Marco Silva responded with attacking changes, and it paid off immediately. Smith Rowe, introduced moments earlier, latched onto Alex Iwobi’s cross to level the game with a clever finish.

Both sides pressed for a late winner, with Harry Maguire heading wide in United’s best chance, but the contest ended all square.

The result piles further pressure on Ruben Amorim, who now has just seven wins from 29 league matches in charge.
