Adams Double Earns Sevilla Draw on AFCON Return
Sevilla striker Akor Adams marked his return from the Africa Cup of Nations in style on Monday, scoring twice off the bench to earn a 2–2 draw against Elche and end the club’s four-game losing run.
Elche took control early, opening the scoring inside 15 minutes through Aleix Febas before Germán Valera doubled the lead shortly after the break.
Sevilla looked set for another defeat before Adams was introduced at the start of the second half.
The Nigerian forward pulled one back to score Sevilla’s first goal in five matches, restoring belief. Deep into stoppage time, Adams kept his composure to convert a penalty after a handball in the Elche area, completing his brace and rescuing a point.
Fellow Nigeria international Chidera Ejuke also featured after returning from AFCON, as Sevilla finally halted a run of defeats that stretched back to December.
