American fourth seed Coco Gauff fought her way into the semi-finals of the Miami
Open for the first time with a hard-earned 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 victory over Belinda Bencic.
The fourth seed, who had considered skipping the tournament due to a recent arm
injury, showed resilience on home soil to overcome an inconsistent performance and
seal the win at Hard Rock Stadium.
Gauff, playing in what she calls her hometown event, admitted she exceeded her
own expectations and is gaining confidence with each match.
She will now face Karolina Muchova in the semi-finals.
